Local Cleaners Aid Cancer Patients
The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2011 there will be close to 750,000 first-time diagnoses of cancer in women over the age of 18.
Meticulous Cleaning has partnered up with the “Cleaning For A Reason” foundation in the hope of helping local female cancer patients in need.
A non-profit organization, Cleaning For A Reason works with more than 800 other participating maid services in all 50 states and Canada to provide free professional house cleaning and maid services for women undergoing cancer treatment. These companies do not receive any payment for their services. Large companies such as Hoover and Allstate are donators to the program.
Zelinda Rodriguez, owner of Meticulous Cleaning, calls the program phenomenal.
“It’s been great working with them,” Rodriguez said. “It feels like I’m doing a good deed and making a huge difference in people’s lives. We always get great feedback. Eventually I want to be able to help raise money for the organization.”
Participating cancer patients must be 18 years old or older to qualify. Four to six patients are serviced at a time with a one and a half to four hour cleaning once a month for four months.
In order to apply for this service, applications must be filled out online as long as they are currently going through treatment. Cleaning For A Reason accepts donations on their website.
